Classically trained, Dmytro is a composer of original music for
film, theatre, dance and public performance. Originally
invited to Edinburgh for the festival, he lived there for 25
years, working with Choreographers, Poets, Film
Makers and Dramatists. In 2013, he moved with his partner and manager, Hazel, to Perthshire
where the surrounding countryside reflected a change in his composition
style and a friend suggested he create a score for Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Having only 8 weeks to create the score, he decided to put a concert of previous compositions alongside the various scenes and he was surprised by how well they worked together. He also wrote several new pieces for the film and after receiving standing ovations in Perthshire and London, he realised that it worked and went on to develop the work which now tours extensively. He later created a new score for FW Murnau's Nosferatu which also tours.
With extensive touring in the UK, Dmytro & Hazel moved to North Yorkshire in 2017 to facilitate access to venues across Europe.
Sebastian Graham-Jones, a judge at the Southampton Student Drama Festival was so impressed by his music, he asked for a special award to be created for 'best original music.'
